Chapter Nineteen: An Interesting Call

-Kuori-

“If you didn’t want me to see then you should have made me leave the room before you went into your dresser.” I commented as we walked towards the school.

“Why were you looking in the first place?” She retorted.

“Oh someone’s touchy this morning.” I smirked.

She huffed and looked away from me.

“Really?” I said.

“I’m not talking to you.” She stated.

“But you just talked to me.” I mentioned

Her face got red and she stopped walking. I took a couple more steps and then turned and looked at her. “Are you coming?” I asked and she didn’t look at me. “Fine then I’ll just leave you to stand there all by yourself. And let your face get all red from embarrassment. Oh like it is now.” She looked down at the ground and continued walking.

“You’re such a jerk.” She muttered.

“Yea but I’m your jerk.” I smiled at her.

“S-shut up.” She stuttered.

“Oh I’m sorry would you like my to lick you again?” I asked.

She shook her head rapidly. “Well then…” I opened the door to the school “After you.” She walked into the school and we went to our lockers.

“Don’t do that again.” She muttered.

“Do what lick you?” I asked.

“Yes.”

“Yes do it…alright that will be your wake up call tomorrow.” I smiled and she pushed me.

“Don’t you dare.” She warned.

“How will you know? Maybe I will do it maybe I won’t.” I commented as we stopped at her locker.

“That was gross.” She stated.

“Right.” I laughed and she shut her locker.

I stopped at mine really quick and grabbed a binder that I would need for second and my math homework that I needed to turn in from the days that I was sick. “I have to go and hand these in.” I told her.

“Alright, I’ll see you in lunch then.” She waved and walked away from me.

“Yep later.” I went and set my math homework on the teachers’ desk then went to my first period class.

The morning announcement came on at the normal time and like usual I couldn’t hear them. It was surprising how talkative that my class was in the morning. But then again I was stuck in a class with a lot of preps and jocks. No one talked to me in the class, which honestly it really didn’t bother me at all. I didn’t like any of them so there was no point in trying to get to know them. To me it felt like the morning was going so slow and I really wanted to just get to lunch eat something then go home and relax for the weekend.

Finally lunch was here and I waited at the cafeteria for Miyuki to get there. I wasn’t waiting long before she got there but I had to joke around with her. “God Mi it took you long enough.” I complained.

“Sorry I was finishing a test.” She stated.

“I’m joking I wasn’t waiting very long. So how do you think you did?” I asked I followed her into the lunch line behind her.

“I think I did alright. I didn’t really read the book that it was on though.” She answered.

“That’s a first Miyuki didn’t read a book” I said with a huge hint of sarcasm in my tone.

“It was so boring.” She whined.

“Yea I know I didn’t like it either. And you know what?” I said as we walked into the main part of the cafeteria.

“What?” She replied.

“Spark notes can me a wonderful thing.” I stated.

A small smile crept up on her lips. “You know you shouldn’t do that.” She stated.

“I know and I don’t do it. That’s what I hear from everyone else in our grade though. I don’t see why they don’t read the books their not that hard to read and we get study guides to use for the tests. And we can use our notes if you write them on your study guides. I rambled.

“I know.” She said.

“So do you want to go up to the roof or stay in here?” I asked.

“We can stay in here today.” Miyuki answered so we sat down at our usual table and at lunch.

Lunch always seems to go by fast and then the rest of the day takes forever. Math wasn’t too bad. I got the notes that I missed from yesterday and it was just a continuation of notes. We didn’t any homework form that class thank goodness I really didn’t feel like racking my brain with any more math. English we got a new book to read. Accounting we never get any homework so I didn’t have to worry about that class. There was never any homework in art either then there was gym and again I was stuck with a while bunch of jocks so that was a fun class. Its pick on the kid that doesn’t play sports in gym. But that’s all right because I’m actually faster then most of them. Even though it felt like we were there for another five hours the last bell rang and I went to my locker and grabbed my bag. There was nothing for me to do this weekend except start reading that book. I closed my locker and Miyuki was standing there waiting for me.

“You ready to go?” She asked.

I put my hand on my lock and then smiled. “Yea I’ve got everything.”

We went to her locker and she didn’t seem to have a lot of different things to take home with her. Of course she always took a lot to school. She said it was to make sure that she was always prepared.

“So are you just going to head home or are you going to come over to my house for a bit?” I asked as we walked out the door.

“Why can’t you come over to my house?” She asked.

“Because I came over yesterday and this morning to wake you up.” I answered.

“But still I go over to your house most of the time.” She complained.

“Alright then we’ll go over to your house and your mom will find a camera and every chance she gets she’s going to take a picture of us and then she’s going to get them developed and show you and say look how cute you two are together. You should go out with him.” I smirked and she punched me in the arm.

“Fine we’ll go over to your house.” She said and I saw her face go a bit red.

“You’re blushing again.” I smirked.

“Shut up.” She looked away from me.

I laughed a little. “I think it’s cute. You blush so easily.” My comment only made her face get even redder then what it was.

“You’re such a jerk today.” She laughed a little covering her face.

“It was a complement.” I stated.

“I know…” She said.

“Hey my mom made extra frosting for you.” I said changing the subject.

“Your mom is so sweet.” She smiled.

“Did you want to go to your house first to drop off everything then head over to my house?” I offered, as we got closer to her house.

“Sure, you can keep going though I’ll catch up.” She replied.

She turned into her drive way “I’ll see you in a bit.” I waved and kept going.

“Yep.” She replied and walked down her driveway and into her house.

I got home about three to four minuets later. “Mom I’m home.” I called taking off my shoes.

I didn’t get an answer. “Mom?” I walked into the kitchen and there was a note on the table.

Went to the store I’ll be back in a bit. Love you.

I can’t believe I didn’t notice the car was gone in the driveway; it kind of made me feel like an idiot, or just a nonobservant child. I threw my bag in my room and the phone started ringing.

“Hello?” I answered.

“Hey, do you know who this is?”

I thought about it for a minuet “No I’m not to sure.”

“It’s Taisuki.”

“Tai!! How have you been?”

“I’m doing pretty well. What about you?”

“I’ve been doing good.”

“Hey guess what? I’m gonna be in town tomorrow.”

“Really!!??”

“Yea. Actually we’re moving back.”

I heard the door open and I looked to see who it was. Miyuki saw that I was on the phone so she when into the kitchen and I heard her fiddling around in the fridge.

“That’s cool. So are you moving here tomorrow?”

“No my parents are going to stay for a few months but my parents were actually wondering if I could stay with you guys until they get into town.”

“Oh yea I’m sure mom and dad will be fine with it.”

“Kuori, you know that Rashi isn’t your real father right?”

“Yea I know my mother told me yesterday.”

“Are you doing alright?”

“Yea I’m fine actually.”

“Well you took it better then I would have.”

“Well I had my friend Miyuki here to help me through it.”

“Oh yea Miyuki I can’t wait to meet her. From what you’ve told me she sounds pretty cool.”

“Yea she is.”

“Well I’ll let you go then.”

“Alright I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“I’ll be there around 2:00 in the afternoon.”

“No you’re going to be here at two in the morning.”

He laughed “Absolutely I’ll get right on that.”

“I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Yep Bye.”

I heard the phone on the other line disconnect and I hung up the phone.

“Who was that?” Miyuki asked. Walking out with a cookie in her hand.

“That was my cousin Tiasuki. His parents are moving back here but he’s going to be here before them so he was wondering if he would stay with my family until they get here.” I explained.

“How old is Taisuki?” She asked.

“He’s 19. He’s out of school already. Actually he graduated high school when he was 17 and he went into the police force.” I said then it clicked in my head. ‘Shit there was going to be a policemen living with us for a while. What if I had to go and steal something?’ I thought.

“So he’s our age. That’s cool.” She smiled.

“He’ll be here around two in the afternoon tomorrow. So if you wanted to meet him you could.” I stated and took the cookie out of her hand and broke off a piece of it and ate it.

“Hey that was mine.” She whined.

“To bad.” I smirked and she rolled her eyes.

“I’m thinking I’m going to sleep over tonight.” She said walking back into the kitchen.

“Why?” I followed her.

“So I can have your mothers cooking.” She laughed and went for another cookie.

I took the cookie jar and put it up where she couldn’t reach it.

“Get it down now.” She ordered.

“Oh really?” I asked.

“Yes really.”

“What if I say no?” She climbed up on the counter and got the cookie jar down.

“Then I’ll get it myself.” She answered and got another cookie out of the cookie jar.

I rolled my eyes and left the kitchen. “You know what would be kind of cool?” Miyuki asked following me.

“What?” I questioned.

“If Taisuki went back to school.” She answered.

“Why would he do that?”

“Because…” She walked past me.

“Because why?”

“I’m there.” She smiled.

I rolled my eyes again and walked into my room.
