Chapter Twenty-one: Ride

-Kuori-

“Yea. Can you walk on your own?” I asked.

“No carry me.” She smiled.

“You can walk.” I said and finished cleaning up.

“But I wanted to be carried.” She pouted and I looked at her.

“If I carry you then your not going for a ride.” I commented.

“Fine I’ll walk.” She sighed.

“Good.” I smiled and tossed the towels in the hamper and then walked out of the bathroom and went to my room.

I grabbed one of my hoodies for Miyuki to wear and I put on my under armor long sleeved shirt then put my short sleeved shirt over it. I handed it to her and my mom pulled in the driveway. I walked out.

“Do you need any help with the groceries?” I asked.

“If you don’t mind.” My mom smiled at me and took what she hand in her hands to the house.

I grabbed a whole bunch of bags and carried them into the house. “Mom is it alright if I take Miyuki for a ride?” I asked.

“Of course you can. You know to just be back before ten.” She answered.

My mom and I grabbed the rest of the groceries and Miyuki was putting things away.

“Miyuki you don’t have to do that dear.” My mom smiled setting her bags down.

“I know but I want to help.” She answered and kept putting things away.

We got everything put away faster then usual because we had an extra pair of hands.

“Thank you for helping you two can go for your ride now.” My mom stated.

“Thanks mom.” I waved and Miyuki and I walked out the door.

I went into the garage and took the cover off of the bike then pulled it out of the garage so she didn’t have to go back in there and end up getting hurt again. I never have explained my motorcycle to you have I? Well it’s a navy blue ZX-92 Kawaski. It’s the same one I use when I’m Zero. I looked over and she was crying again. “What’s wrong?

“It’s beautiful!”

I rolled my eyes “Just get on.” I stated.

“There’s a problem…” She said.

“What?” I asked.

“I don’t know how to ride one of these.” She answered.

I sighed and went back into the garage to get two helmets. “It’s like riding a regular bike only you don’t have to petal.” I told her and handed her the spare helmet. I put on my helmet and got on the bike and started it up. “Now get on.” I told her.

She carefully got her leg over the seat trying not to kick me and she sat down. “Now what?” She asked.

“You can either wrap your arms around my waist or hold onto the back. I suggest holding on to me though.” I replied.

“Oh o-ok.” She wrapped her arms around me.

“Hold on tight.” I commented then took off down the driveway and out onto the road.

The instant I started going she was holding onto me for dear life like she was going to go flying off. I stopped at the intersection and took a left when I saw that no one was coming. I took her for about a half an hour of riding then I stopped at the beach and turned off the cycle and kicked down the kickstand. I took off my helmet and Miyuki was still clinging onto me. “You can let go now we stopped.” I said looking back at her.

She let go and took off the helmet. I laughed a bit. “What’s so funny?”

“You have a small case of helmet hair.” I answered.

She blushed and shook her head. “Is that better?”

I nodded. “So what did you think for your first time riding on a motorcycle?” I asked curious.

“It was everything that I imagined.” She answered and I smiled a bit.

“Sorry about scaring you when we started.” I apologized.

“It’s alright it was actually a lot of fun.” She answered.

“Maybe over the summer I’ll take you on more rides.” I mentioned and her eyes lit up.

“Really?” She jumped on me and hugged me. “Thank you. Oh that’s going to be so much fun.” She laughed and hugged me tightly.

“You’re welcome.” I said “Do you have circulation back in your legs?” I asked.

She nodded “Where are we going now?” She asked.

I looked at my cell phone. “Well we should start heading back to the house but we’ll stop at yours first so you can get your clothes for tonight.” I replied.

“Okay.” She put the helmet back on.

I laughed a bit then put my helmet on and got on the bike she hopped on after I did. I turned on the bike flipped the kickstand up and then took off back towards town. The sun was getting close to setting when we got to Miyuki’s house. She got off really quick. I turned off the bike and then we went inside.

“I thought I heard something out side.” Her dad stated walking out into the hall.

“Yea I took my bike out. I really haven’t driven it so it was nice to get some oil running through the lines again.” I answered.

“Oh you have a bike? That’s why it sounded so loud. You have a motorcycle license?” He asked and Miyuki went to her room.

“Yea I got it after I had my drivers license for a year.” I told him and Miyuki’s mom came out into the hall as well.

“Did you bring Miyuki home on the bike? ‘Her mom asked.

I nodded “Yea I took her for her first ride on a motorcycle. I just drove around town and came here.” I answered.

“Thank you for taking care of Miyuki while she’s out of the house.” She smiled.

“I have something to ask.” I commented.

“Sure what is it?” Her mother asked.

“Do you know who Miyuki’s real parents were?” I questioned.

Miyuki’s mother looked away from me and her dad sighed.

“Actually yes we did.” Her father answered.

“What happened to them? Why did they give Miyuki up?” I asked.

“Their dead Kuori…you see Miyuki’s parents asked us to watch her for then night because it was their anniversary and they wanted to go out to dinner and a movie. They said that they would be back late probably around eleven. But at ten that night we got a call from the police saying that they were killed for the money in their pockets.” He explained.

“That’s why right away we adopted Miyuki, we just haven’t found the right time to tell her though.” Her mother said.

“But she thinks that her parents just dumped her and didn’t want her.” I told them.

“Mom, dad I’m going to sleep over at Kuori’s tonight.” Miyuki stated walking out with her bag.

“Alright, we love you sweet heart.” Her parents hugged her. “Be careful it’s getting dark outside.” Her mother warned.

“Don’t worry I’m only a block away and on my bike it won’t take long to get home.” I smiled “I’ll walk her home tomorrow too.” I mentioned and opened the door for Miyuki.

“Thank you Kuori, you’re such a sweet boy.” Her mother said.

“Bye mom, bye dad, I’ll see you tomorrow.” Miyuki laughed and waved walking out of the house.

I waved and shut the door and put my helmet on then got on the bike.

“What were you and my parents talking about?” Miyuki asked.

“It was nothing really your mom was just glad that you were having a god time and they were asking me when I got my motorcycle license.” I told her starting up the bike.

She got on and I got us home in a minuet or two. She got off took her helmet off and handed it to me and I walked the bike into the garage took off my helmet set then on their hooks and put the cover back over it then walked out and shut the garage and we went in.

“Mom we’re home.” I called and I heard the television was on in the living room.

“Did you two have fun?” My mom yelled.

“Yes.” Miykui answered and went to the spare room and I heard a thud so she threw her bag into the room and it hit the wall. “Ma do you have any frosting left over?”

“Yes sweetie it’s in the fridge in the spot where I always put it.” I heard as I walked into the living room.

“Yea!!” Miyuki cheered and skipped out of the room and into the kitchen.

I laughed a little. “So what did you do while we were gone?” I asked mom sitting down on the love seat.

“I finished reading that book that I had to put down for a while.” She answered.

“Is that it?” I questioned.

She nodded “You know that I’m a slow reader. I just finished it about an hour ago.” She replied.

“Well at least you finished it.” I smiled.

“Why don’t you go and hang out with Mi and make sure she doesn’t eat to much frosting we don’t need her so hyper she gets sick and can’t sleep.” I laughed a little at my moms comment.

“Alright I will.” I got up and walked into the kitchen. Sure enough Miyuki was eating the frosting
