Ok, so every year around this time I get all: "BLAH! VALENTINE'S DAY IS STUPID! I HATE IT! D<" and "Why are we celebrating love when St. Valentine was KILLED?" or "I give up on V-day...I will celebrate S.A.D."
But this year I want to look at this differently.
Our God is different than any other god in any other religion. Our God is a God that loves. Love is not something scientifically measured and it is something that science cannot explain. That is proof that God exists because there is no scientific reason to love someone. If you only believe in science people would choose someone to be with based on whether or not they have good genetics. And you would most definitely NOT have a homosexual couple, due to the fact same sex cannot reproduce.
So, there has to be something there...something more that makes people love. That is God. God loves us very much and made us in His image, thus we love as He does. We are to love Him and each other.
Jesus said:
Matthew 5 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.
John 15:9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.
God loves us so much that He died for us. :)
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world,that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
So, I want you all to remember that Valentine's Day is not just about getting something from a man or a woman. It's about love in general and how we need to love in order to show God's love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.
