Geez, I meant to post the introduction yesterday, but work and general laziness got in the way ;A; Well, at least I'm doing it now.
I tell ya guys... making an accurate top 70 OP/ED's is practically impossible. Not only do you shift things around day by day, leave stuff out (even taking the time out to make an honourable mentions list), but then you still end up forgetting stuff that deserves to be on the list somewhere. I was literally listening to anime music this morning and realized I missed Aoharu X Kikanjuu's OP "The Bravest Destiny." ;~; In order to allow you guys a comparison, as well as to show some other OP/EDs that just didn't make my list this year, here's a link to last year's list.
Even beyond that, I have to apologize beforehand, as some of the Youtube videos might have low quality on the visuals or even the audio. Heck, if you're looking at this post months later, some of the links might not even be available anymore. But hey, I'm doing my best.
Oh, and in addition to the TV versions, I might also link full versions, official music videos, piano versions, or even metal versions. I figured that, since some of my decions have been affected by those other versions, I might as well credit them somehow. ^^
Last note, I'm doing top 70, which means I post 14 per day. Even then, I'm still going to separate it into groups of 10, because it will feel cleaner to me once it's all done. ^^ So, if I'm in the middle of posting, and the list stops at an odd number, that's why.
So, before I post the first 14, here are a few honourable mentions:
HM. Ergo Proxy ED - "Paranoid Android"
You see, I really like Radiohead. I haven't heard all their songs, sure, I wouldn't say I'm a superfan, but I do really like them. And Paranoid Andriod is my favorite song by them. Needless to say, when I'm watching Ergo Proxy and this song comes on at the end of every episode, it makes me really happy. ...Even if there isn't a whole lot of great animation to it.
HM. Paprika OP - "The Girl in Byakkoya"
TV- er, Movie Version | Full Version
At first I really was going to have this on the list. But then I decided that it's best to stick to actual TV anime for the list, but I still wanted to recognize this brilliant, beautiful piece of animation, and the fantastic music that goes with it, somewhere. So here it is.
HM. Boogiepop Phantom OP - "Evening Shower"
I've said it before, I'll say it again - I love Suga Shikao. I love his smooth funk so much to the point that he's still my favorite Japanese musical artist. I love his music so much, that the fact that he sings this song is the only reason I picked this anime up. And while the animation is fair, and adds to the song... I still love it mostly for the song.
HM. Baccano! OP - "Guns & Roses"
This opening is basically legendary. It shows up in so many top OPs lists. While it didn't quite make mine, I still can't deny how fun it is. The jazz is amazing, and the way it showcases all the characters is really cool, while at the same time being useful. It's a fantastic opening, and deserves some recognition.
HM. Steins;Gate ED - "Tokitsukasadoru Jūni no Meiyaku"
I think this was the first ending that ever really had an impact on me. I just remember the feeling of having a plot twist happen right before this ending, having it come on, and then flipping out so much XD Because of that, I feel like it's stuck with strongly, even throughout my years of watching anime.
So there are the honourable mentions. ^^ I'll post the first 14 at a later time today for you all.
