Alpha Bracelet Girl Theory

This next post is a new theory of mine concerning the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime series that I'd like to share with everyone. Anyone who doesn't watch that series can pretty much just ignore this post.

Yesterday, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Wiki revealed a bunch of new titles and plots for upcoming episodes of the ARC-V, and it looks like the episode that's set to run on October 9th is going to shed some light on the mystery behind the four dimensions. Here's the episode's title and plot taken from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Wiki.

Episode 126: The Day the Devil was Born

As Yuri attempts to turn Sora into a card, Yugo appears before him and challenges Yuri to a duel. As a fierce battle between Yuri and Yugo unfolds, Yusho along with Reiji and others manage to reach Leo Akaba. Leo begins to speak about the "demon duelist" who leads the world to destruction, as well as the four dragons. What is the reason why the world was split into four dimensions?

So here's the theory I take from this episode summary and what we've already seen in the anime. Let's assume for the time being that the four dimensions are not a naturally occurring multiverse, and that the world that existed before the Standard, Fusion, Synchro and Xyz Dimensions was the same world that's been the setting of the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise since the beginning of the original series. Now, taking all of this into account, let's assume that the following events occurred before the events of the ARC-V anime.

  • About a decade or so after the events of Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, the figure known as the Demon Duelist emerged and began destroying the world.
  • At this point another figure, who I'm calling the Alpha Bracelet Girl for the moment, stepped up and somehow split the world into four dimensions to stop the Demon Duelist, dividing herself and the Demon Duelist into four in the process.
  • Later on, the four pieces of the Demon Duelist were reincarnated as Yuya and his three counterparts, Yuri, Yugo and Yuto.
  • Meanwhile, the four pieces of the Alpha Bracelet Girl were reincarnated as the four Bracelet Girls that we already know, Yuzu, Selena, Rin and Ruri.

In short, the world being split into four dimensions may turn out to be no different form what happened before the events of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series when Pharaoh Atem shattered his pendant into the Millennium Puzzle in order to seal away the soul of Zorc Necrophades along with his own soul. This theory also explains why Yuzu's bracelet teleports Yuya or one of his counterparts away when another one of them comes within a certain range. It's a safeguard to prevent the Demon Duelist from being reconstituted.

It also seems like the Fusion, Synchro and Xyz Dimensions may be based on points in history when those summoning techniques had reached their peak, while the Standard Dimension may simply be based on the point in history when the Demon Duelist originally rose. Also, since the Fusion, Synchro and Xyz Dimensions seem to be based on those points in history, they're populated by certain "historical figures" that existed during those time periods.

  • Fusion Dimension: Aster Phoenix and Alexis Rhodes
  • Synchro Dimension: Jack Atlas and Crow Hogan
  • Xyz Dimension: Kaito Tenjo

This also might explain why there's no Ritual Dimension, since there's never been a point in the history of the anime where that summoning method reached its peak. I mean Ritual Summoning has been around since the original series, but it was always kind of overshadowed by Fusion Summoning.

The point I'm trying to make about the four dimensions though is that they may be no different from Pharaoh Atem's world of memory within the Millennium Puzzle: potentially illusionary worlds with locations and people that once existed in another time.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this little theory of mine with everyone. I told it to a friend of mine on FanFiction.Net last night, and he said it makes total sense. I'm not saying that I'm expecting the term, "Alpha Bracelet Girl theory" to trend anywhere online, but I kind of want as many people to know about this theory as possible. In any case, we may find out as early as next month whether or not this theory of mine turns out to be true.

If it does turn out to be true, one implication of it is that there was some super tragic romance between the Alpha Bracelet Girl and this Demon Duelist. Like maybe the Demon Duelist was originally a nice guy, but he got consumed with this dark power. I just can't wait to find out!
