Banned Firewall Dragon

This is a video that I ran across earlier today while trying to post those deck videos, and I'm glad I discovered it because it explained a rather shocking turn of events with the card game from a few weeks ago. For those who don't follow this sort of thing, Firewall Dragon - the ace card of the current Yu-Gi-Oh! protagonist, Yusaku Fujiki/Playmaker - was put on the Forbidden List, or Ban List. In other words, the card can no longer be played at all in major tournaments. Now I knew that Firewall Dragon was powerful, especially since players were eventually only limited to using one copy per deck (and because it cost so damn much to order online), but I never expected that Firewall would just be totally banned. I didn't understand the reason why until I saw this video. Take a look.

I never realized that Firewall Dragon's effect to summon monsters to its Link Zones could be abused in such a way. I didn't exactly try abusing said effect in the Cyberse deck that I built. Honestly, I can understand the reasoning behind the card getting banned like that, but it's still kind of an outrage! I mean this is a main character's ace card! Plus it makes me feel a little like I spent all that money on my first copy of Firewall Dragon last year for nothing (I pulled a second copy from a booster pack a few months ago). The whole thing is just kind of absurd. On top of that, some of the more recent card game products are identifying Decode Talker as Yusaku's ace card, so it feels a little like Konami's trying to change anime history here.
