News: Free Comic Book Day 2014

External Image

Just a reminder that May 3, 2014 will be the day the 13th annual Free Comic Book Day event. If you're a comic book fan like myself, or are just getting interested in exploring this amazing entertainment medium, make sure to mark your calendars for this upcoming event, and visit The Free Comic Book Day website to find out if a comic shop near your residence is taking part in the event.

As for me, FCBD comic items I am looking out for include: The New 52 Future's End No. 0, Guardians of the Galaxy, All Rocket Racoon, Grimm Fairy Tales No. 0, Steam Wars, Valiant Universe Handbook, Sonic The Hedgehog/Megaman Flipbook No. 1, The Tick, Street Fighter No. 0, Showa: A History of Japan, Transformers Vs. G.I. Joe, and possibly Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Quite a list yes, but no one can ever have enough interesting stories to check out.

News: Live-Action Patlabor To Be A T.V. Series

Today, I found some new detail on the upcoming live-action Patlabor from Otaku USA's website. Similar to the fact that G-Savior is live-action sequel to an anime (namely Mobile Suit Victory Gundam), this installment of the Patlabor franchise, to be a 12-episode T.V. series titled The Next Generation Patlabor, will be a sequel (though Otaku USA didn't clarify if it will be in continuity with the 1988 Patlabor OVA or in that with the 1989 Patlabor TV series), and centering around new police officers in Tokyo's Special Vehicles Section 2, though it will also feature as a supporting character, Labor maintenance chief Shiba from the Patlabor anime (to be played by the character's anime voice actor Shigeru Chiba). Plus, this upcoming show will maintain a rare approach in making anime-based live-action works as the original creators of Patlabor are attached to the production, and I think you'll be amazed by the labor design should you visit the webpage were I found out this piece of news.

News: Goldorak Marathon on 9/29/2013

I don't know how many of you, the readers, live in the Quebec province of Canada, but if you're the kind of Canada-based otaku into the anime classics of the 1970s, note that this Sunday, Télétoon Rétro (the French langauge counterpart of the Canada-based English language Teletoon Retro) will be airing a marathon of Goldorak - Le Robot de L'Espace (French dub of the 1975 Mazinger anime T.V. series UFO Robot Grendizer) from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (ET and PT). I, for one, am currently watching Goldorak on Mondays to Fridays myself. One of the best AnimeFench dubs I've seen so far, and I recommend it for anime fans looking to brush up on some French language.
