Shawn Michaels: The Last Hurrah

External Image

I did'nt get to watch Wrestlemania this past weekend, but i was able to look up the results late sunday night when i woke up and it was pretty sad to see that Shawn Michaels had lost - even though i knew he would.

In the Wrestling business it's a rare thing to go out on your own terms and when you are still physically able to perform at a high level. He honestly didnt have anything left to prove and even if he hadnt came back in 2002, I would still consider him one of the best ever, just like i do today.

I'll always have my dvds with his matches, and the memories of all the groundbreaking stuff he was a part of in the Wrestling world.

Now that he is retired, i'll have one less wrestler to root for, but i beleive his retirement has come at the right time. Im sure we'll see him in the Hall of Fame pretty soon lol.

I'll be posting up pics/videos of my favorite Shawn Michaels matches once i go through all my wrestling dvds and pick some out, so be sure to check back :)

Thanks for the memories.....

The Shawn Micheals -Bret Hart -Undertaker Fiasco

Hello :)

Last night before i went to work, i was watching one of my Undertaker dvds, and i found myself watching one of my favorite matches - Bret hart VS. The Undertaker at Summerslam in 1997, with Shawn Micheals as the special Referee.

apparently The Undertaker had been destroying referees leading up to Summerlsam, so when summerslam came around - none of the refs wanted to official the match lol. So the WWF chose a wrestler to be the official and out of irony it just so happened yto be Shawn Micheals lol.

Stipulations were set on all men -

Bret Hart : if he loses, then he would never wrestle in the United States again

Shawn Micheals: if he is biased towards either wrestler, then he would be fired, and would never be able to wreslt in the United States again either.

Undertaker: if he loses, then he loses the WWf Championship

Here is a short video of the Summerslam Match

After the situation at summerslam, Shawn Micheals would be punished by the WWf by being allowed to face the Undertaker in the First Hell in a Cell Match lol.

here is a video of that match :)

An then a short time later was The Survivor Series 1997 Incident,

Well, i suppose that will be all for today, i sure hopw to post more tommorrow, so be sure to check back for more :)

International Flavor

Hello Everyone,

While i was going through my wrestling dvds yesterday, i finally found, the dvd with the scene that shows Masahiro Chono as WCW World Heavyweight Champion. I also saved some screenshots of some other international wrestlers, and thought that i would post the pics up while i was making some visual changes to this world :)

As you can see, i posted up the company logos for WWF, WCW and TNA in the introduction, and im currently trying to decide another possible color scheme for this world as well. I am also planning on adding some links to the intro that will give people access to the same Wrestling news sites that i visit regularly, so be sure to check back for the changes :)

And lastly, if you are a wrestling fan and would like to guest post on this world, then feel free to let me know - the more the merrier, thats for sure :)

Now here are the pics of the international Wrestlers, hope you enjoy :)

Wrestling Spotlight : Rick Rude

Hello everyone,

As you all know, im a big fan of wrestling, and one of my favorite wrestlers of all time has been "Ravishing" Rick Rude.

I bought the Rise & Fall of WCW dvd last week and it had a couple of matches with Rick Rude, and i thought id put up a post with some of his matches - From the Early days , the the days of world Championship Glory in WCW :)

WCCW Television - October 1986

Rick Rude(c) & One Man Gang
VS.
Bruiser Brody & The Missing Link

At the Time of this match, Rick Rude was in the wrestling promotion called World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW), based out of Dallas, Texas - and He was currently the WCCW World Champion. This match would begin as a normal Tag Team Match, but it quickly turned into a rule-breaking barfight lol. Both teams did their best to beat the other, but the deciding factor of the match was when the referee saw Rick Rude purposely throw one of his opponents over the top rope (which was illegal in some/most promotions back then) and he would be disqualified along with One Man Gang. The match might have been over, but the fight kept going even after the loss lol. Rick Rude proved that he had a mean streak right from the beginning of his career :)

Wrestlemania 4 - March 27th 1988
WWF Championship Tournament - Frst Round Match
Rick Rude Vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts

To start things off, The WWF World Championship had been vacated shortly before Wrestlemania, so the WWf decided to hold a huge Tournament at Wrestlemania 4, to fairly crown a new WWF Champion. The last match of the first round pitted Rick Rude against his total polar opposite - Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Rick Rude was flamboyant, rude, arrogant and had a chiseled body, Jake Roberts on the other hand was very introverted, cerebral, calculating and was more of a technical wrestler than a showman. Both forces clashed at wrestlemania and while i was watching the match, i couldnt help but notice how well they worked together. They both complimented each others styles with great moves and the match was a great combination of strength tactics vs. technique. In the end the time limit would expire forcing the awesome match into a Draw, which eliminated both men from the tournament. The feud would continue later that same year .............

WWF Television - October 24th, 1988
Madison Square Garden
Finishing Move Match
"Ravishing" Rick Rude VS. Jake "The Snake" Roberts

Rick Rude and Jake Roberts paths would cross again later in the year of 1988 when During one of Rude's entrances he chose a random woman to pull from the arena crowd and give a kiss. This time, the woman he chose ended up being Jake roberts Wife. When she wouldnt give Rude a kiss, he took it personal and began to get bent out of shape which escalated into the feud between the two men. This match would help settle the score - whichever man was able to put his finishing move on his opponent first would win the match. To be honest, i felt that this match was more athletically sound than their Wrestlemania match earlier that year (which was also really good). Both men were equally matched until Rude shifted his focus on Jake robert's wife (who was ringside). After a small altercation between Rude and Cheryl Roberts, Jake "The Snake" was able to hit his DDT finishing move to win the match. i really enjoyed this match because i knew i was going to see a finishing move in this one lol.

WCW Spring Stampede - April 17th, 1994
WCW International Heavyweight Title
Rick Rude(c) VS. Sting

a video of the match

During the Early 1990's, Rick Rude would make his way to World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and he quickly made an impact. He quickly became embroiled in a heated and awesome rivalry with Rick Flair and Sting in which he won his first WCW World Title. He and Sting would meet at Spring Stampede in a fast paced match full of all sorts of bizarre moves and reversals. This match really showed the tension and hatred between the two men and things really boiled over when Big Van Vader and his manager Harley Race came out to disrupt the match. Rick Rude was about tho execute his "Rude Awakening" Finishing move on Sting when Harley Race blasted him from behing with a chair - allowing Sting to pin Rude to win the WCW Title. One of the best rivalries in WCW history :)

Well, thats going to be all for today, i sure hope you all enjoy the post :) i hope to chat with you all soon :)

The Rise & Fall of WCW

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I bought the Rise & Fall of WCW dvd and i thought id post a pic of the dvd case here on my world :)

External Image

I have always been a fan of WCW, especially when i was younger - simply because when i was younger we only had like 13 channels on tv and i usually just watched the TBS channel, which was way different back then. TBS use to show action movies all the time and occasionally had cartoons on the weekends etc. But my favorite show to watch on TBs was WCW Saturday Night. I would sit there and watch it while my Grandpa would tell me stuff about each wrestler that he knew about and stuff like that. The production value of the show was really awesome back then and i wish i had all of the WCW Saturday Night episodes lol. On saturday mornings TBS also showed WCW Worldwide, which was a show that kept people up to date on what was happening in WCW. It would show some matches and highlights of stuff from Nitro, etc. it was an hour long, but it was still fun to watch :) On Sundays TBS would show WCW Pro, which was baiscally just a hour of mid/lower card wrestlers wrestling. For me it was awesome to watch, simply because back then i just wanted to watch wrestling and WCW filled that void for the longest time lol.

The Rise & Fall of WCW is a good dvd set, with a pretty cool documentary, and it also has alot of matches - old and new :)

i hope to chat with you all soon :)
